Riparian zone grant project

In 2018 we were successful in our application for a North East Catchment Management Authority grant.

For this grant we installed nearly 3 km's of electric fencing along our riparian areas and wetland area.

We have hand planted over 4000 trees, shrubs and grasses indigenous to our location.

We will restrict access to these areas from our stock for the next few years while the plants establish.

Six months on from planting and we have around 50% success rate with the planting which is pretty good considering the summer of 2019/2020 which was extremely hot, up to 45 degrees, dry and no watering of the plants other than any rain we were lucky enough to get.

Solar power

As the farm is off grid we have designed and created our own solar system to power our electric fencing.

Matt & Danny constructed the support frame for the panels early in 2020. The system we have is a 5kw battery storage.

We are able to easily provide power for all of the farm fence lines and can store excess power in batteries.

We are able to monitor how much power we produce and store through an app on our phone so we can always ensure that the fences are operating.

In the future we will expand our solar and renewable energy systems to power our house and sheds.

A regenerative farm.
